Classic Dutch Apple pie

ingrediënten (voor 12 personen):
  • 5 big green sour apples
  • 200 gr raisins
  • lemon juice
  • 250 gr flour
  • 125 gr brown caster sugar
  • 125 gr butter
  • 1 egg
  • cinnamon
  • salt

bereiding:
  1. Preheat the oven on 175 degrees celsius. Steep the raisins in some warm water. Pare the apples, remove the core and cut them into small pieces. Mix the drained raisins with the apples and some cinnamon, lemon juice and spare sugar.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, butter, egg, cinnamon and salt to a smooth dough.
  3. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin or mold it with your hands to the desired shape. Cover the bottom of the butter-greased springform or round cake tin with a layer of dough and make a high rim (5cm) around. Make sure you have some dough left!
  4. Scoop the apple mixture gently into the form, making sure not to take the juice that has leaked out. Mold the leftover dough into a stripe pattern on top of the pie. You can spread some egg on top using a brush, if you have some left.
  5. Put the pie in the oven for about 60 minutes. Let it cool for a bit.
  6. Time for a party!
tip: Try making variants with walnuts, pears, more or less raisins... Be creative!
