Deepfried chicken in orange sauce. Not a very standard recipe, but certainly worth trying.

ingrediënten (voor 4 personen):
  • 500 gram chicken meat
  • battered egg white of 4 eggs
  • 1 cup of wheat starch
  • deepfrying oil
  • 1 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 cup of lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp white wine

bereiding:
  1. For the sauce: Mix the orange juice, lemon juice, salt and sugar, and make sure the salt and sugar are dissolved, on a low fire. Bring to boil. Add the wine. Dissolve the corn starch in some water and mix until smooth. Mix this through the sauce. Heat until clear, and put aside.
  2. Cut the chicken in pieces. Mix the chicken with the wheat starch and the egg white.
  3. Heat the deepfrying oil in a pan or use a deepfrying pan. Deepfry the chicken pieces until golden yellow. Put them on a serving scale, and pour over the sauce.
  4. Serve with rice.
tip: When the orange juice is too sweet, you can use some more lemon juice.
